Smurfit Kappa Hexacomb: storage and handling

As of August 1, 2019, one of our sites has been used to store Hexacomb (honeycomb cardboard) from Smurfit Kappa. The space of approximately 1,000 m to 1,500 m serves as storage for cardboard produced in Ermelo (the Netherlands) and used in the glass industry.

Contact

We came into contact with Smurfit Kappa in the spring of 2019 through our carrier Koopman Transport. The company was looking for a new storage facility at short notice. Within three weeks, we redesigned the warehouse and put it into use.

Special handling

Hexacomb’s bulky yet lightweight packaging materials are used to transport fragile goods. They require careful, special handling. The pallet size that Smurfit Kappa uses for storing their packaging materials also differs greatly from the usual sizes. Pallets can measure up to 3.6 m in length. We were able to help the customer thanks to our flexible teams and the smart logistics solutions offered by Pon Logistics: fast, flexible and highly reliable.

Working relationship

We have an excellent working relationship based on trust and knowledge of each other’s processes. Things are running smoothly for both parties.
